X - 6 NOW IN FULL PRODUCTION!

At Last!!! We've given the go-ahead for full production, and some X - 6 parts have arrived already.

Most production prototype parts were perfect, so no changes were needed to those molds. This includes the toe-in bars, which are their own mold, and the bottom covers & motor plate support, also their own M.U.D. mold. The first production run of both these molds has been made and those parts are ready to go.

Our larger molds each make several parts, so if only one part in the mold needs a tweak, all the parts are held up until the final changes are made. The nose pieces came out perfect, as did the wing mounts. The servo clamp, servo posts, and battery posts are also just right.

We've added material to the longitudinal part at the outside of the rear control arms and moved the sway bar ball stud hole. Those changes may be finished as soon as August 4th, and we'll be ready to "shoot" control arms and wing mounts.

We've solved our shock tower issues and a small change must be made to the loose piece. That change should be finished about August 7th. We're removing some material in the front of the chassis where the servo goes, and some material to make motor plate installation easier. Those changes should be finished August 10 th, and we'll start making chassies, nose pieces, and shock towers.

One last problem, and it's our first real "oops." We designed the battery strap and realized later we had forgotten you need to have solder tabs! We realized this before the tool & die shop started machining the mold, and re-designed the strap.

But the shop used the older C.A.D. when they cut the mold -- OOPS. So the Boyz are testing with the wrong strap, which they've Dremmeled to make them work. They're strong enough, and designed properly. The batteries are being held in, and that's what counts.

The tool & die shop is cutting out that part of the mold and preparing an insert with the correct C.A.D. for both cover side and ejector side. They started this work on August 1st and expect to finish about August 7 th. We'll make a few straps and have Paul try one at the Mod Nats that week. If it works well for a day or two of practice, we'll give them the go-ahead and we should have all the straps, servo clamps, and posts ready when we return on August 14 th.

The motor plates and done and in our hands. Lunsford Ti hinge pins are in our hands. We've even got the decals!

Work on the instructions and box label is very slow because my wife's mother is in hospice and we expect the funeral shortly. Cecilia is our computer guru for the photos and arrows, and there's nothing we can do until that all settles down, probably around August 4 th.

So, realistically, we expect to ship Kits the week of August 14th. The Pre-Production Special has been extended until August 6th, but it will end then, so if you have not taken advantage of that great low price, act now.

We'll see you at the Mod Nats!

Believe it or not, there are 1,000 bottom covers and motor plate supports in there!

Cover side of the transmission case mold. Two small changes have been made and production began August 1st.

Another shot of the tranny case mold.

The big mold with the loose piece out to make the shock tower change.

Some of our plastic material waiting to be fed into the press.

Interesting how things get tangled up in a busy shop. One of our chassies lying on the mold for an auto part.

Holding one so you can see.
