New Team Losi XXX CR
Losi has announced a new revision to the xxx buggy, utilizing both proven successful CR suspension components and new technology as well. Main features of the new car are: the new hub carriers, rear suspension mounts, and new bellcrank system to give new Ackerman angles, and a return to the Gen I transmission.

The hub carriers have changed to a vertical ball stud mount, making roll center adjustments much easier. Also, this reduces the need for the Skip Gear shock tower mod, which gave roll center adjustment. However, it may be there are slight differences between making the change on the inside or outside. Testing will tell. However, this is a great improvement in the Losi cars. We hope the new carriers fit the old cars, although dogbone length may be a problem as bearing spacing may be different.

Most of the team drivers were using the Gen I transmission for last year's ROAR Mod Nats and the Worlds', so this makes that change official. It seems that the Gen II transmission, by lowering the weight, should make the car handle better, but it never seemed to work that way.

The Gen II outdrives were longer and the dogbones shorter. This gave more forward bite on loose tracks, but too much on blue groove. Further, the short dogbones had to move too much in and out in the outdrives, and the car was too tight on power. The return to the old tranny should allow drivers to squeeze the trigger with confidence coming out of turns on both high and low bite tracks.

The revised rear suspension mount is much like the old CR mount, with the hinge pins further apart. This means the rear control arms from the BK 2 will no longer fit. This mounting helps line the hinge pins up vertically with the spot where the dogbone engages the outsrive, helping forward bite.

The revised bell cranks have been on the team cars since the CRCRC MidWinter and drivers report better on power steering.
